ISC est 1995-01.png

Indian Society of Cinematographers was inaugurated on the eve of the 100th birthday of cinema on 28th December 1995. Eminent cinematographer Subrata Mitra, who re-defined the aesthetics of global cinematography lit the lamp on the occasion. ISC is a creative congregation of similar minds to foster the art of cinematography and to struggle for authorship rights of cinematographers. We are a creative collaboration, fostering the artistic potential of each member and the whole group as an entity.

Building on the vision of the founding members, the ISC website is committed to the study of the art and science of cinematography. It will endeavor to foster a spirit of collaboration among it's members. Sharing notes and experiences of the filming process, sharing thoughts and ideas on cinematography will form the basis for this. It will document and preserve the legacy of the leading cinematographers of India in the hope that the film community will benefit from it.
