I need some insight and information on what do DOPs and lens manufacturers actually mean when they say "a particular lens has great latitude hence provide better image".
Saying that what are the different lens elements that makes a particular lens better than the others?
Generally Latitude stands for the properties related to tolerance of handling light, especially the range of highlights and dark features that are properly exposed in a photograph. Also latitude for lens can stand for stability in controlling the CA (Chromatic Aberration) or color fringing around contrasting edges. It reduces in extreme focal lengths, thus affects the image quality. Hope this helps. :)
